Things To Do

A city in and the county seat of Forsyth County, NC, Winston-Salem is the 90th-most populous city in the United States. It is referred to as the ‘Twin City’ for its dual heritage, and it is also known as the “Camel City” due to its historic involvement in the tobacco industry.

The origin of the town of Salem goes back to 1753 when Bishop August Gottlieb Spangenberg picked a settlement site on the three forks of Muddy Creek. Salem was eventually incorporated as a town in 1856. Winston’s history stretches back to 1849 when it was ultimately named Winston after Joseph Winston, a local hero of the Revolutionary War.

The area has many attractions. The Reynolda Gardens is a 4-acre formal garden within a more significant woodland site. It was initially a piece of the R. J. Reynolds country estate. New Winston Museum is the community history museum primarily for Winston-Salem and the greater Forsyth County. Trust Stadium is a minor-league stadium used mainly for baseball but also used for other sports year-round.
